TAMPERE - BEAUTIFUL CITY BETWEEN TWO LAKES
The city of Tampere was founded in 1779. Tampere is the third-largest
city in Finland and a dynamic centre of industry, culture, research and
education. Thanks to its central location - two-hour drive from Helsinki -
and excellent services, Tampere is a very popular congress city. The city,
situated between two beautiful lakes, has a distinct air of natural peace.
It is large enough to provide all the services that a major conference may
require, yet small enough to make delegates and their families feel at
home during their stay. Hotels, shops and restaurants are all within a
safe walking distance of the conference hall. In the evening, the city
comes alive and visitors can choose from a whole host of theatres,
concerts, bars and restaurants. The population of the city is nearly 200
000.

The conference will be held at Tampere Hall, the largest conference and
concert centre in the Nordic coutries. It is located in the city centre,
within a short walking distance from the major shopping areas.

TAMPERE WITHIN EASY REACH
You can reach Tampere by air from Copenhagen, Stockholm or Helsinki.
The two companies operating to Tampere are Finnair and SAS. Tampere is
located in the inland only 175 km from Helsinki. You may also choose to
arrive by ferry from Stockholm either to Helsinki or Turku. There are
excellent road and rail connections between Tampere and both of the
coastal cities. Trains to and from Helsinki, the capital, leave every
hour, the journey lasts two hours. There are also frequent and comfortable
express bus connections between Helsinki Airport and the Tampere city
